Tatum is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Arizona and a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies and Human Development through the University of Arizona. Tatum is a Tucson native who enjoys spending her time doing yoga, rock climbing, reading, crafting, gardening, and spending time with her spouse and pets.
Tatum provides in-person and Telehealth therapy to adults, adolescents, and tweens (ages 10+). Tatum’s personal outlook on counseling is that individuals are the experts of their own lives. Tatum takes a strengths-based approach to utilize previous experiences and existing skills to focus on effective coping and achieve new goals. Her goal is to foster a trusting and nonjudgmental relationship that honors diverse identities. She utilizes Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and a Feminist/Multicultural approach in counseling.
Tatum uses the combination of therapy styles to target past trauma or experiences that keep clients “stuck” in current ways of thinking and being. From there, clients can process unhelpful patterns and replace them with more compassionate and useful beliefs and behaviors. Tatum aims to offer support, empathy, empowerment, individualized treatment, and further equip clients with the skills needed to overcome current and future challenges
