Sam completed her Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northern Arizona University. In addition to her experience as a therapist, Sam is also an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the E-RYT 500 level and has been teaching yoga for more than 15 years. The mind/body connection can be a powerful component of healing and well-being.
Sam believes that facing all parts of ourselves is challenging and humbling, but will ultimately lead to freedom and living a more authentic and integrated life. Therapy is the opportunity to slow down, pay attention, and listen deeply to our heart, which can be incredibly healing.
Sam believes the therapeutic relationship to be a collaborative one. Each individual is unique, so each person’s pathway to healing is unique also. Sam takes a person-centered approach and utilizes various techniques to meet clients where they are and move forward from there. Sam’s approach incorporates the techniques of mindfulness, expressive arts, sand tray, dream work, self-compassion practices, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and psychodynamic exploration.
