Andrew Ayon

Intern, BHT

Hello! My name is Andrew Ayon. My pronouns are they/them. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Northern Arizona University. I am glad you found your way to my profile. Likely, you are looking for support navigating life’s many challenges. I would be honored to partner with you on your journey. If you choose to invite me into your healing work, we will be spending a lot of time talking about you. So, in the spirit of the wonderful decolonial activists currently reshaping the realm of psychotherapy, allow me to share a little about me.

I am a queer, Latine counselor-in-training. I was born, raised, and continue to live in the borderland between Mexico and the United States, a land that mirrors the liminality of my own existence. As a multi-racial, gender nonbinary, queer, and disabled individual, I navigate the in-between spaces. My therapy work and my advocacy aim to give voice to those who continue to be injured by the colonial need to divide. All of us are expected to live within systems designed to separate us from ourselves, our communities, and our world. In many ways, we all live in-between.

I approach counseling from an ecopsychological lens. I view healing as a process of coming home to ourselves, and restoring our lost connections. As a humanistic counselor, I take a holistic, integrative approach to support you and your therapeutic goals with the best tools available. I bring a decade of pastoral care and public health research to my practice, giving me a well-rounded view of both evidence-based practice, and spiritual wisdom. I would love to collaborate with you on how I can best support your journey. To you, I offer the words, welcome home.
