Stephan Ackermann LPC Counselor Grief and Loss

Stephan Ackermann

LPC, MA, MBA

Stephan is an independently licensed Clinical Mental Health Provider who creates a safe, supportive, and person-centered therapeutic space for his clients. He works with adults navigating life transitions, self-esteem challenges, anxiety, depression, and experiences of loss and grief.

His therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based practices—including CBT, EMDR, and mindfulness—with depth psychology. Drawing on tools such as dream analysis, sand play, artistic expression, and active imagination, Stephan helps clients engage in the process of individuation—bringing unconscious material into awareness for greater integration, resilience, and psychological well-being.

Beyond his clinical practice, Stephan has served as Vice President of the Southern Arizona Friends of Jung, reflecting his long-standing commitment to depth-oriented work. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Program at Northern Arizona University, where he has taught courses on Ethics, Group Dynamics, Psychological Theories, and the History of Clinical Mental Health for the past three years.

In addition, Stephan serves on Northern Arizona University’s Advisory Board, where he contributes to the development and growth of the Clinical Mental Health Master’s program. Originally from France, Stephan brings a unique perspective shaped by a distinguished business career before becoming a psychotherapist. He began his clinical journey as a grief counselor at Tucson Medical Center Hospice, an experience that continues to inform his
compassionate and holistic approach to therapy today.
