Isaiah Barker

LAC

Welcome! My name is Isaiah, I am a licensed therapist at Cathexis with a Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grace College. Before returning to school to pursue my degree in counseling, I spent five and half years working in community mental health clinics in a variety of roles. My passion is guiding clients in an exploration and mapping of their inner world or self. This exploration is foundation of becoming who you really are. I enjoy working with clients to transforming their inner world from a hostile desert, chaotic and unpredictable, to a place of beauty where they feel at home.

I take pride in being able to offer a wide spectrum of clinical services that can be tailored address to you, the individual. The foundation of my therapeutic approach is person centered and client focused. As a counselor, I primarily work from a Jungian perspective. I believe all parts are interconnected with and impact by mental health from basic instincts, physical health, habits, beliefs, emotions, trauma, to the cultural, creative, and spiritual dimensions each piece is essential to the self. However, sometimes these parts get separated and become hostile toward each other resulting in internal distress and external dysregulation. While each person is unique, there are valuable lessons, tools, and practices that can be gained from examining shared experiences. In addition to depth psychology, I utilize Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as practical evidence-based tools.

I enjoy working with individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. For those who request it, I can provide Christian faith integration into the counseling process. The goal of faith integration is to building insight to understand the intersection of faith, practice, and belief and mental health.
